The irony of being a modern consumer

I bought $18 shoes at lunch because that was 70% off the original price and they were pink and low-heeled and sweet. Stellou, I think. would approve, even though they aren't gold. Terz I don't think would approve so much, but he generally disapproves of my shoes anyway.

The irony is: now I have to go buy clothes to match the shoes, seeing as most of my wardrobe is black/dark brown/dark blue/dark red. I think that comes from my mother constantly telling me during my teenage days not to wear black because it was so dark and depressing-looking --- this, even though the word 'goth' wasn't in her vocabulary or, really, in the average Singaporean's at the time.

At any rate, I don't think I quite have the sartorial panache to pull off contrasting coloured shoes, so I'll have to try diluting my wardrobe. I'll just be careful to avoid cream-c0loured clothes so that I'm not mistaken for a student when I turn up at my new place of work next year.

And yes, that place of work has finally been confirmed, so the school can start clearing a workspace for me and I can start contemplating what the hell I'm going to do with all the mounds of paper in my current cubicle (paper, meet shredder --- it is your destiny).

You are luckyyy!!!!!! And HELLO what's the matchy-matchy problem?? Pink shoes go with EVERYTHING. No, really, I only speak the truth. The other surprising thing is, green shoes also go with everything. It's black shoes I have a problem with. No, but, really, pink shoes = POWER. Congratulations.

It's been tough times ever since my pink shoes that I wore about all summer died. I finally found a pair at Kenneth Cole the other day for $98 (bargain) (not), but since "I don't go shopping anymore," they are still in the store. Cheh!

agree completely with Stellou. Pink goes with everything, especially black, or white, or nice blue jeans. You have plenty in all three I imagine. Funnily enough, the only thing I won't wear my pink shoes with is pink.... or maybe purple. too clown-like.

green, always dreamed of having emerald green shoes...but can't really imagine it in any different style except Audrey flats. If I had that, I could really dress in black.

I bow in the face of superior fashion wisdom.

Pink shoes with jeans I figured were okay --- just that I don't get to wear jeans to work at the moment (although it's my new career objective); so it's mostly a weekend thing. I have plenty of black, but a paucity of white -- must endeavour to balance out the yang with more yin.

Green shoes would be cool. Ru has green Doc Marts and another friend had amazing green heels that looked great with everything she wore.

(a) YAH! My green shoes were flats. Not Audrey flats (which I just had to Google), but flats nonetheless, and mary-janeish, and they were Campers, and they were green like happy apples, and I wish I had them back. Some famous pricey shoe store with a funny name I always forget, it's on Spring Street, next to Bistrot Margot, they have really good floor tiles, well, whatever the hell it's called, they have very good patent leather green shoes this season. I keep going in and touching them and then having to leave, because they cost like three hundred dollars.

(b) I want to know if there's anything Terz approves of. Ha-ha.

confession to stellou: have generally stopped buying first-hand shoes because styles aren't what I want, or, way too expensive for my starving artist lifestyle. So, scrounging second hand, which aint so bad, I find wicked wicked shoes for nothing at all. you just gotta get the eye, the second-hand eye.

However, have another small confession: have found shoemaker. custom designed shoes. but between saving up money to visit friends in North America, supporting very demanding stomach and stupid art career, finding the idea of blasting 3-digit Euros on custom shoes too frivolous. God, why didn't I marry a banker?

Lana --- green Doc Marts!!

Nardac --- you are a second-hand store queen! I remember you having fun poking around in the Belmont stores in Chicago.

Stellou --- Terz disapproves of, like, everything. Why do you think he's got such an angry blog? :)
