"Come Together".
In an age of rampant internet porn and off-colour humour, I'm really, really surprised that this passed committee.
I mean, it's "Come Together", not "Let us come together" or "Come together to celebrate ...". And even though the full theme is "Come Together --- Reaching Out, Reaching Up", I'm not sure the subtitle improves anything.
Also, the official logo makes it really all about, well, you know:

Is this before or after we stand up for Singapore?
I think the Beatles might be appalled.
Somehow - in SG, we seem to think that design by committee is best. That's not always the case - as the NDP theme illustrates. I remember that I was teaching in a Catholic school and we had to come up with the theme for the year. Usually this theme has some religious significance or some passage from the bible. That year when I was on the committee, they decided that the following theme was appropriate:
"My Lord ... My Rod and My Staff." :/
I was the only one to raise objections to the chosen theme!
Fox > Eh, I have a soft spot for Stand Up for Singapore! (Shut up, I'm not trying to insert double entendres in every line.) I think because it seems so straightforward and unpretentious compared to all its successors.
naixuhs > I suck. I totally didn't think of the Beatles song till I saw your comment. Just goes to show you what the predominant cultural influences on my mind are. :P
jude > Win!!!
Guess who's the creative director of the NDP this year? :)
for those who lack that bit of imagination
