Singapore is a fine city

A woman has been fined $30 for eating a sweet while riding the MRT --- all captured on a video news report to boot.

Note to self: Stop eating breath mints while on the train, even if breath might be stinky. Le sigh.

Amazing..what about mothers who are breastfeeding their babies?

Ha....what about the "noise" pollution when the unfed babies start wailing!

If litter (from the food/drink item) is the problem, what happens if you unwrap some new item (ear phones for your new iPod)on the MRT?

I can see why they don't want people eating and drinking on the train. I've seen people devour hamburgers or nibble away at prawn crackers for the duration of a long ride.

But a sweet?! And what if it's just someone getting a sip of water, where the worst thing that might happen if there's a little spillage is --- it'll evaporate?

The word "draconian" doesn't begin to cover half of it, plus the spirit vs. the letter of the law, etc.
